Sony 1 GB Memory Stick Pro Cards

Sony's advanced 1 GB Memory Stick Pro format offers a glimpse into the future of digital devices when rapid advancements towards the broadband era and fast evolving hardware and software will bring about a rich diversity of advanced applications such as real-time recording of high-resolution moving images on Memory Sticks.

Sony has developed 1 GB Memory Stick Pro format together with SanDisk Corporation to ensure that the information can be captured quickly and abundantly. The 1 GB Memory Stick Pro format integrates new technologies and features including:

High Capacity - On a Memory Stick Pro, users can enjoy and record approximately 16 CDs, 385 JPEG images in 5.0-megapixel quality, that is more than 10 rolls of 24/36 film, 24 minutes of DVD quality video (MPEG2), and six hours of MPEG4 (384 Kbps) moving images.

High Speed - In addition to an improved transfer speed of up to 160 megabits per second (Mbps), an advantage of the Memory Stick Pro format is the minimum write speed of 15 Mbps that can be realized with optimized 1 GB Memory Stick Pro format-compatible devices.

Real-time Recording - 1 GB Memory Stick Pro technology also incorporates software specifically designed to offer real-time recording of data. With compatible devices, users can now rest assured that their Memory Sticks and more importantly, the content on the Memory Stick, will not be compromised when they accidentally remove the card before all of the data has been transferred or recorded.

Data Security - Tentatively dubbed the Access Control Function, the new protection technology has the capability of securing content on the Memory Stick, preventing others from accessing the files in the event the 1 GB Memory Stick Pro memory card is stolen or lost. The Memory Stick Pro format also includes the MagicGate copyright protection technology, which provides secure transfer and playback of commercial and copyrighted content, such as digital music, video and games.

Sony 1 GB Memory Sticks Are Ergonomically Designed

Sony 1 gb memory sticks are compact flash memory cards developed by Sony to realize the convenience of recording different types of digital contents from photos and computer data to music and moving images. 1 gb memory sticks offer great versatility by being compatible with a wide variety of products. Sony has used this memory stick in digital cameras, digital music players, PDAs, cell phones, the PlayStation Portable, and in other devices.

Memory sticks are easy to use and handle. Unlike other flash memory cards, it is easy to distinguish the front from the back and the top from the bottom of the memory stick. This feature prevents misuse or accidental loss of data. In some 1 gb memory sticks, an Erasure Prevention Switch is present, which also prevents accidental loss of important content and data.

1 gb memory sticks are designed to be highly resistant to shock and vibration due to its solid state construction with no moving parts. The connector unit and 10 long pins of the memory stick, ensure highly reliable exchange of data. 1 gb memory stick defines a variety of application formats to allow seamless sharing and exchange of data among compatible products of different manufacturers. Various types of digital contents can be stored on a single memory stick media, without the user having to pay attention to file format or folder structure because when recording data to the memory stick media using a compatible device, a folder is automatically created in accordance with the data type and format. 1 gb memory stick is widely used in Sony digital cameras as Cybershot for storing image files. With a memory stick reader (typically a small box that connects via USB (Universal Serial Bus) or some other serial connection), a user can copy the pictures taken with the Sony digital camera off to his or her computer.

Sony 1 gb memory sticks should be kept away from direct sunlight, moisture and magnetic fields. The batteries of the digital cameras or any other device using the memory stick should be regularly changed or re-charged because low battery may lead to loss of data. Sony memory stick will continue to evolve and diversify due to technical innovations.
